The Earth’s crust consists of multiple plates, and geological phenomena occur when the plates move apart or collide. The most well-known phenomena are fault and fold. These two phenomena are caused by lateral pressure and tension on the strata, i.e. pushing and pulling pressure. The rock deep within is relatively soft and can bend, which causes fold, and the rock nearer to the surface is hard and pressure causes it to break, which causes faults.
The world’s volcanos and earthquakes, volcanic products, faults, folds, joints and unconformities and other geological phenomena are exhibited in various formats.
