Section Introduction Section Introduction
  • The Asian elephant is the largest living land animal in Asia and is categorized into three subspecies: the Indian elephant (E.m.indicus), the Sri Lankan elephant (E.m.maximus) and the Sumatran elephant (E.m.sumatranus). Asian elephants are more docile and have smaller bodies than African elephants. Male Asian elephants have tusks, but female ones lack them. If female ones are tusked, in this case, tushed, the tushes are too short to notice.
